“Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood God.”

Sex Addicts Anonymous, page 28

God, for me, appeals to all people, spiritual beliefs and practices. My understanding of God is that God is everywhere: in the majestic sky at night, in every animal and plant, in every grain of sand on the beach. God is in me. Everything is God—God is one.

Concerning sex addiction—for me, it was only possible to act out when I lost track of the concept that God is nurturing, like a bird who takes me under her wing. I did not care. I just wanted that quick fix, that rush. It had nothing to do with patience or good will. I abandoned God.

How do I turn my will and life over to the care of God? By taking that leap of faith that God is in control, that things are working out in God’s time, in his or her manner, not mine. I am part of God’s world but that world does not revolve around me. After the Third Step, I can look at myself as a part of one—God is one.

My understanding is that God is forever. I put my life in the care of God.
